About Us

Sunset view over the golf course at Apollo Elks Golf Club.

The Apollo Elks Golf Club sits along Elks Lodge Rd in Apollo, PA, where the Allegheny River valley shapes every elevation change on the course. Blind tee shots, natural hillside contours, and a landscape that hasn't been bulldozed into suburban sameness give this layout a character most modern courses have engineered away. Regulars know which par-4 doglegs left and which green breaks hard toward the tree line.

The greens here draw genuine praise from players who know how to read them. They run a touch slow, but they're cared for with attention, and the setting around them, wooded edges, open sky, and quiet Pennsylvania countryside, makes the walk worth taking. The course plays as a Elks Lodge member benefit and community asset, which means you're likely to share a round with someone who's been walking these fairways for twenty years.

Fairway conditions fluctuate with the seasons, and drought years show it. But for golfers who value natural terrain over manicured perfection, Apollo Elks delivers a round that feels rooted in the region rather than imported from a resort catalog.

What We Offer

The club offers 18-hole public and member play across a layout that rewards course management over raw distance. Tee boxes are maintained to a solid standard, and the greens, while not lightning-fast, hold their shape and roll true. Blind approach shots on several holes add a strategic wrinkle that keeps experienced players thinking.

Elks Lodge membership opens additional benefits beyond golf, connecting players to the broader BPOE fraternal community in Armstrong County. The clubhouse provides a gathering point before and after rounds, and the club hosts seasonal events and outings for members and their guests.

Walk-on availability and public green fees make this accessible to visiting golfers exploring western Pennsylvania's quieter courses. Call ahead to confirm tee times and current rates, as pricing and availability can shift by season.

"The good: greens are a bit slow but beautifully maintained. Tee boxes were fine. Fairways not bad given the dry season. The bad: I would not recommend this course at $50. This has to be under 30. But hey, if they make enough at 50 a pop so be it. The ugly: It's a run down operation probably functioning on less than my household budget and a lot of volunteer hours. All that said, we were there during a steeler game and had the course to ourselves. We enjoyed our round but probably would not return."

"Very nice. Good condition from tee to green. A few blind shots that are fun. Natural landscape with some hills and a beautiful setting. Would definitely play again."

"This place was a big old heaping pile of cow dung. It was $50 and that’s not much but it’s worth .50 cents. The fairways looked like a volcanic eruption took place and the lava oozed onto every hole. I’d hit a ball and then have to find a weed to set it on so I wasn’t hitting off the asphalt colored dirt , aka Apollo elks fairways. I was supposed to have a nice Saturday with the boys until I made the left into the lot and saw the ruins of pompeii. By hole 10 I wanted to shove a butter knife in my eye socket so that an ambulance would pick me up and take me away. I would not recommend. Greens were best thing about this place even though they were rolling like a snowball on concrete. Would not recommend! Because I’m a nice guy I’d give this place a .3/10 Not a 3, a .3 /10."

"If google had the option to give zero stars id still be upset because it wouldn’t be good enough. This place deserves negative stars. I was forced to play in an outing here today and could tell pulling in to the parking lot this place was total dump. Every fairway on the course looks like it was airstriked overnight. The tee boxes have no grass lmao 😩. The greens were the only bright spot at this god forsaken golf course simply because they were the only patches on the entire property with green grass. That being said the greens were still horrible. $50 is $49.99 too much to play here. They should actually compensate you to play through the misery that is Apollo elks golf course. God bless anyone that decides to book a tee time here. May god be with you."

"Absolutely horrible course. Slowest greens around. You get absolutely punished when you roll a foot off the fairway. Seems like the mower has stopped working. The fairway itself has what seems to be landmines in them. Would not recommend. Can’t buy a lie around here. Anywhere."

Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
